The Weight Loss Surgery Channel Is It For You?

Weight loss surgery is not one of my strong suits in knowledge.  I intend to learn more about it moving forward.  In doing so, I ran across a very interesting website called the Weight Loss Surgery Channel.  Now of course I am not a big fan of going into weight loss surgery as you might imagine.  Some of that is because I did not go that route since I lost my weight over 35 years ago and kept it off so I had no need.  I did read an article on the site that seemed quite balanced as it presented the upsides and downsides of this option so read that one I would say.  The reasons I have for not being high on this option are in the article.  Also, do note that this site is financially supported by surgeons who advertise on the site and/or have videos on the site.  Not that there is anything wrong with that either just note that.

The faculty seems quite capable and qualified so I have no problems with them.  I am a little concerned with the Success Stories section.  Why?  Well first how about a section titled Failure Stories?  Now that would be fair and balanced.  Secondly, I coach many lawyers in how to market their practices and the Florida Bar (as do many other bars in the USA) does not allow the publishing of “testimonials” or “trial results” in advertising or websites.  Why?  Because that would create a false impression in the mind of the prospective client that these results might happen for them and no lawyer can promise results.  Thus for those two reasons alone I think it would be good to have a “Failure Stories” section.  It would help folks see what they will be up against.  Now, I know many if not all surgeons require their patients to get a “sign off” for the surgery from a mental health professional but I wonder about the quality of those evaluations?  Check out what the forum on the Weight Loss Surgery Channel says about this aspect.

Well, I don’t want to leave the impression that I think nobody should have surgery since I know some folks need it and I am glad they have this option available.  I also am glad this site is available.  I plan to keep watching the Weight Loss Surgery Channel myself.
